The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 18 May 2024, during which two new Council members were elected. The meeting, held at Marford Mill, saw the election of Gareth Wilson and Aidan Dryden to national seats on the BASC Council.
Gareth Wilson, a former chief constable of Suffolk Constabulary, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His interests span a broad range of pursuits covered by BASC. Wilson expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “I’m absolutely delighted to be elected to Council and I’m really hoping that the experience I have – everything from working my dogs through to deer stalking and rough shooting – brings benefits to the members. I hope my professional career and skills will also be of significant benefit to BASC.”
Aidan Dryden, hailing from Worcestershire, was elected to the other national seat. His shooting interests are focused on wildfowling and rough shooting. Dryden remarked: “It’s an honour to be elected to represent our sport by members of the sport and I’ll do my best to represent all members.”
