After dedicating over 45 years to the firearms industry, Peter Sarony, the respected rifle and pistol smith, innovator and shooting sports practitioner, has announced his retirement.
At the age of 82, Sarony, who still devotes 80 to 90 hours a week to his craft, is exploring options to pass on his legacy, either through the sale of Armalon Limited or its extensive equipment and facilities.
Peter Sarony is not just any engineer; he is a pioneer who established the now international sport of Practical Rifle Shooting and its more widely recognised variant, Precision Rifle Shooting (PRS). In the late 1970s, he also founded the London Practical Shooting Club, which has grown into one of the most successful NRA-affiliated shooting clubs.
Sarony, along with his late wife Annie, organised and ran the Practical Rifle Championships for more than 25 years. His significant contributions to the sport include overturning the NRA’s ban on self-loading rifles at Bisley, which greatly influenced the Practical Rifle discipline. Following the UK’s 1988 ban on such rifles, Sarony innovatively redesigned bolt-action rifles.
His quest for excellence led him to conclude that Cold Hammer Forged barrels are the most durable and accurate. This prompted him to acquire the necessary plant from the then-closing Parker Hale Ltd and ROF Nottingham Small Arms. In 2008, Sarony relocated this plant to a secure site near RAF Brize Norton, housed within a nuclear blast-proof bunker spanning 3.6 acres.
The latest of Sarony’s innovations is the PS21 system, a modular, multi-calibre platform equipped with innovative bipods, scope mounts, sling systems, moderators, and other accessories. While the system is spanning sporting, police, and defence sectors, it requires significant investment in patenting its 28 ground breaking features and aggressive
international marketing.
Sarony is now seeking to collaborate with a well-established international organisation that can provide robust sales and marketing support to bring his extensive range of innovative products to the forefront of the relevant markets. Parties interested in exploring this opportunity are encouraged to reach out directly to Peter Sarony at peter.sarony@armalon.com or by phone at 020 7262 1881.
